Singular

This is a multi-step guide for setting up your Digital Turbine campaign with Singular.

Step 1. Configuring Event Postbacks

Step 2. Creating a Tracking Link

Step 3 (Optional). Enabling Cost Tracking

Step 1. Configuring Event Postbacks

By default, Singular sends install postbacks for the configured campaign.

In addition, postbacks for any other events (for example, post-install events) can be sent by configuring the settings for the app at the Partner Configuration page.

Complete the following steps to set up event postbacks:

  1. Go to Attribution→Partner Configuration.

  1. In the search field at the top right, start typing Digital Turbine Media (or click +Add Partner and search).
  2. Click +Add App Site.

Note

To edit an existing configuration, hover over a line and click the pencil icon on the right side.

  1. Select the App Site.

  1. Check the boxes for:
  • Send View-Through Postbacks. This will let Digital Turbine receive conversion postbacks tied to impressions.
  • Send Fraud Postbacks. This will let Digital Turbine be aware of any installs blocked by fraud algorithms for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Send all.  This will let Digital Turbine receive unattributed install postbacks for optimization purposes.
  1. Set the Click-Through Window for attribution lookback to 30 days.

Important

Digital Turbine requires a 30-day attribution window.

  1. Set View-Through Window to 24 hours.
  2. On the In-App Event Postbacks tab, click + Add a new event.

Note

If the Event Name field is not showing, delete the event using the ✗ (cross) icon and recreate a new one using the + (plus) icon.

  1. In the first column, select the in-app SDK Event Name as sent from the app to Singular’s attribution service.
  2. Next, add the Event Name.

Note

Digital Turbine machine learning algorithms rely on standard event names to improve ad targeting, optimization, measurement, and insights. For best results, use these names for event mapping:

  • app_open
  • purchase
  • level_achieved
  • ad_click
  • ad_view
  • login
  • add_payment_info
  • add_to_cart
  • add_to_wishlist
  • checkout_initiated
  • complete_registration
  • complete_tutorial
  • reservation
  • update
  • subscribe
  • search
  • view_content
  • credits_spent
  • achievement_unlocked
  • app_rated
  • tutorial_complete
  • social_share

If there's no suitable name on this list for an event, you can add an arbitrary event name. However, make sure there are no spaces and special characters in it other than the underscore ( _ ).

  1. Set the Lookback for the event. We recommend selecting None as that will ensure we receive all event postbacks to reduce discrepancies.
  2. If the event includes a value that you want to deliver to the Digital Turbine (for example, in-app purchase includes a revenue value), check the Include Revenue checkbox.
  3. Click the + icon and repeat the process until all events are added.
  4. Click Save when finished.

Step 2. Creating a Tracking Link

Singular offers the ability to configure one link for Android and/or iOS. You can configure one or both and the link will redirect based on the operating system of the device engaging with the link. Alternatively, it will send the user to a designated fallback destination that you provide.

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Attribution→Manage Links.
  2. Start typing the name of your app in the search bar and select it.

  1. Click Create Link.

  1. In the section that opens, for Link Type select Partner.

  1. For Source Name, select Digital Turbine Media.
  2. Enter an arbitrary Tracking Link Name.
  3. Click on Link Settings and Redirects.

  1. Select the Link Sub-Domain.
  2. Complete the next steps depending on the platform.
For iOS For Android
  • Check the Enable iOS tracking checkbox.
  • Check the Enable Probabilistic Attribution checkbox.
  • The value of Site gets populated automatically.
  • In the If the app is not installed go to: drop-down, select a URL.
  • Optionaly, in the If the app is already installed go to (deeplink): drop-down, add the deferred deeplink destination.
  1. In Fallback Destination for Other Platforms, set a web page for non-Android and non-iOS users to be redirected to.

Note

Attribution Settings are not required unless you want to change the partner lookback settings (for this link only) OR to enable re-engagement tracking for the link.

  1. Click Generate. A new item, Link Summary, will appear.
  2. Click on Link Summary to expand it. Copy the links and send them to Digital Turbine.

Step 3. Enabling Cost Tracking

  1. Go to Settings→Data Connectors.

  1. Click on +Add Data Connector.

  1. Search and select Digital Turbine Media.
  2. Your Digital Turbine representative will provide you with the Client ID and Client Secret via encrypted email. Optionally, you can add a description for the configuration.

  1. Click Submit.

Note

Due to the nature of the data collection method and timing, when the connector is first created, you will see a red status indicator and message indicating that there is Action Required. Please disregard this message on the first day as it may take up to 24 hours to get the first file delivered, but do contact us if you still see that error after the first cost report is scheduled to be delivered(after midnight UTC daily).
